The ‘ Kaffirs ‘ were soldiers from Mozambique in South Africa, who served in the Portuguese Army. This is a chicken curry handed down from the Kaffirs, but modified in Goan style.

| 01. Boneless chicken – 1.2 kg 02. Coriander leaves – 1 bunch 03. Green Chillies – 10 04. Mint Leaves -1 bunch 05. Green Cardamom – 5 g 06. Cinnamon stick – 5 g 07. Cloves – 5 g 08. Ginger – 10 g 09. Garlic – 10 g 10. Turmeric powder – 1 tbsp 11. Ground nut oil – 125 ml 12. Onion (long sliced) – 1 13. Lemon juice – from 2 lemons 14. Salt – to taste |
| Preparation |
| 01. Clean and cut the chicken into four pieces. Apply salt and turmeric powder and keep aside for half an hour.
02. Grind the coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chillies,green cardamom,cinnamon, cloves, ginger and garlic to form a fine paste. Add the lemon juice to the paste and mix well. 03. Marinate the chicken with this paste and keep it aside for at least 2 hours. |
